Laptop keeps on crashing/ hanging in on me.

Guys. any ideas on what to do if your laptop keeps hanging in/ crashing in on you? i mean... the problem is that my laptop just suddenly stops and freezes. never going back. then to get it back online, i have to reboot it. its such a pain in the ass. Anyone got suggestions? here are the specs of my laptop:

Maker
Acer
Model
Aspire 4937
Power:
Intel Centrino
System
Windows Vista
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400
(2.0 GHz, 800 MHz, 2 MB L2 cahce)
up to 732MB Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
2GB DDR3
250GB HDD
802.11a/b/g/Draft - N WLAN.
14.0" HD Acer CineCrystal LED LCD
DVD - Super Multi DL

That is all i can say about my laptop - the info anyways.

So any recommendations?

Did anything change before this started happening? Install anything new? Updates?

just the updates for vista. and not very much installations. the vista system i have is the Windows Vista Home Premium

Do a system restore and reverse the updates, they might be causing the issue.

Do a system restore and reverse the updates? what do u mean/ how do u even do it?

Well, if you made a restore point before the update (I am not sure if Vista will do this automatically) then you need to restore your PC to that point, before you installed the upgrades. The updates you installed my be causing the problems.
